Post-Surgical Instructions for Surgery
1. SLEEP MORE
Relax as much as possible after surgery. It is also better if you sleep with your head elevated (two pillows).
Please limit your physical activity (no exercise or stressful activities) for 48 hours.
2. USE AN ICE BAG
Apply an ice pack on the surgical area during the first three hours after surgery (5 minutes on, 5 minutes off).
3. LITTLE PAIN IS NORMAL
You will have some discomfort as the anesthesia goes away. Do not take Aspirin or compounds that have Acetylsalicylic Acid. Take the medication prescribed by us.
4. BLEEDING
A slight bleeding is very normal and very common. If bleeding is heavy, apply continuous pressure with a wet tea bag (not any other infusion) in the bleeding area for 30 minutes. If it was not enough and the bleeding continued, please call us.
5. RINSING
Do not rinse (any kind) until 24 hours after the intervention. After this period, you can do it with warm water and a teaspoon of salt. You can do this up to four times a day if it relieves you. Use the rinse that we have prescribed in the recipe twice a day for one minute at a time, this rinse is VERY IMPORTANT.
6. AVOID ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO
Please avoid alcohol and tobacco until 48 hours after surgery.
7. ORAL HYGIENE
It is VERY IMPORTANT to keep the area as clean as possible with or without dental pieces. If you have natural teeth, start brushing them the day after surgery, moistening the brush previously with warm water. When cleaning, try to avoid gums and clean the surface of the tooth. Do not use toothpaste in that area. Clean a couple of times a day.
For Wisdom Tooth Removal surgeries, once completed 24 hrs after the surgery, apply Bexident Post Gel 3 times a day during the first week.
8. MEALS
Avoid drinking anything hot in the first 6 hours after surgery. Too cold or hot food might bother you. Also, avoid spicy, sour, or too-hard foods. We recommend foods that include:
- broth or soups
- eggs, pasta or tender fish
- cooked vegetables
- custards and puddings
- any other food that does not require much effort in chewing
If possible, avoid chewing on the treated area. It is recommended to take ORANGE JUICES (VITAMIN C)
